7860 Remote Controlled Signal is a LEGO Trains set released in 1980. It contains 24 pieces.

The set contains the signal itself (a black 3x2 brick with two LEDs to create the red and green signal lights), signal stanchion post, a remote control switch, and two "breaker rails" which stop the train on a red signal.

Notes[]

  • 7777 LEGO Trains Idea Book demonstrates that the switch can be alternatively used to turn lighting bricks on and off.
  • Reliable operation of the system depends on both the speed of the train, where if the train is running too fast, it can jump the signal; the motor will then overshoot the broken circuit section and then restart suddenly usually causing the magnetic train couplings to be overcome and the locomotive running away. The normal remedy to this is to space the breaker rails farther apart.
