9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor is a Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith-themed set released in 2012. The set features 300 pieces and five minifigures: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2, Nute Gunray and a Security Battle Droid.
Description
The set includes a dark green Jedi interceptor, a brick-built Mustafar mining droid, and a platform. The mining droid and the platform are simple builds and hold a minifigure on top of them. The Jedi interceptor is the main part of the set. It features an opening canopy with room for one minifigure, a slot for an Astromech Droid, flick missiles, and opening S-foil wings.
Background
This set is modeled on the Jedi interceptor Anakin Skywalker takes to Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith to execute the Separatist leaders, thus ending the Clone Wars. After destroying the Separatist leaders, Obi-Wan Kenobi dueled Darth Vader, but Vader lost the battle, burning himself in progress.
Notes
- Both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi have dual sided heads.
- This set is the first Eta-2 style Jedi Interceptor that has a slot for an Astromech Droid as opposed to merely fitting a dome to the ship.
- This is also the first Jedi Eta-2 Jedi Interceptor to have flick missiles.
- The Nute Gunray minifigure is redesigned to match his appearance in the live-action movies. This figure has a sloped brick in lieu of legs.
- This set includes three variations of characters that are exclusive to this set.
- In the US, this was orginally a target exclusive but is now carried at all major retailers.
- This appeared in Ace Assault II in the new levels section.
