This article needs to be rewritten in a more sophisticated style in order to meet encyclopedic standards.

The 9V-Powersystem is one of 3 different voltage systems. The other two are 4.5V and 12V. All motors including train-motors released between 1990 and 2004 are powered by 9V-energy.

High electric energy can be danger for human and animals. But 9V are acceptable low to get no damage to livings. It will not harm you if you touch the elctric contacts of LEGO-parts. But please don't touch the power socket on the wall if you don't know how to handle this!

To get 9V power you can use a batterypack with six 1.5V-batteries. Trains which opperate on 9V-tracks can be controled through the 4548 Electric Train Speed Regulator.
