Belville is a LEGO theme that was created to be marketed towards girls. It was introduced in 1994. The sets are made up of System pieces, however larger figures than minifigures are used. In early Belville sets, it was packaged under LEGO System banner. The System banner was dropped since 1999. There are pieces specially made for Belville and later appeared in normal LEGO sets.
In early time, Belville included sets related to leisure life. From 1999, Belville included fairy tale sets related to king and princess. Different sub-themes of fairy tales were introduced. In 2005, 5 Belville fairy tale sets related to Hans Christian Andersen were released. In 2007, a Belville Advent Calender was released.
