Chewbacca, also know as "Chewie", was a Wookiee who, along with Tarfful, helped Jedi Master Yoda escape from death on Kashyyyk during Order 66 by the Clone Troopers. Afterwards, he fought for the planet against the Galactic Empire, but was captured. Released by Han Solo, he became a long-time companion of the smuggler, and the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon. After meeting Ben Kenobi, he and Solo agreed to transport Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and R2-D2 and C-3PO. But during the journey to Alderaan, they found only debree. Soon, Chewbacca helped the others hide in their secret smuggling compartments. Afterwards, the gang got away, along with Princess Leia. Chewbacca helped fly the Freighter to Yavin IV, and, when Luke was under attack by Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Han stopped the Sith Lord and helped the Rebel destroy the Death Star. The Wookiee was later captured on Cloud City, but was freed by Lando Calrissian. But it was too late, since Solo had been frozen in Carbonite, and captured by Boba Fett. Chewie and Calrissian went on a desperate search for him, and finally found and helped free him. Then, he helped pilot the Tydirium, and participated in the Battle of Endor. he soon helped destroy the Death Star II by shutting down the shield generator, along with Han Solo. He, along with the rest of the Rebellion, won their greatest victory against the Empire.
