[edit] Background

Classic Star Wars is a sub-theme of the Star Wars line of Lego products. It includes all of the sets and figures from the original trilogy (IV, V and VI). Being the main character in the classic trilogy, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader is seen in many of the sets. As is the same with other main characters like Han Solo, Princess Leia, and more. However, Rebels, from pilots to Endor commandos, are the most common in sets, as are Stormtroopers. This subtheme is based on the happenings between the boarding of the Tantive IV to the Victory Celebration for destroying the Death Star II. This subtheme introduces the most sets, since it covers three different movies.

[edit] Magnets

Magnet sets and pens have also been released. They have the ability to remove the minifigures so that you can use or play with them, usually being rare or hard to find characters.

[edit] Co-Packs

Many Co-packs have been released, to make prices easier and more sets sold. Also minifigure packs were sold, 3 of 4 being based on the Classic Trilogy. These, however, are no longer available.

[edit] Mini

Mini sets, being released at the same time, were a cheaper and easier way to buy LEGO Star Wars sets that were playable, yet easy to build. Most classic Trilogy mini sets are no longer sold, being now a part of the Clone Wars subtheme. Many are minikit sets that may be viewed in the Lego Star Wars video games after collecting all of the minikit canisters.

[edit] Technic

Though not very common, LEGO has released a few Technic Star Wars sets. These usually came with features like movable arms or turning head. These sets, however, did not last to the present Classic LEGO Star Wars.

[edit] UCS

Many sets in the Classic Trilogy are Ultimate Collectors sets, due to their large size or importance in the Original Trilogy. Most of these sets, however, are display sets, and exclusive or hard to find. The most popular UCS is the 10179 Millennium Falcon, due to it being the largest LEGO Star Wars set released, at over 5,000 pieces. Unlike most Ultimate Collectors sets, this one included minifigures, which is why it is so popular.

[edit] Promo

Few promotion sets have been released, but more are to be determined.
