Dori was a Dwarf of Durin's Folk and the brother of Nori and Ori. Dori also had a flute that he played in Bag End home before leaving on their journey. He was said to like food as much as Bilbo or any Hobbit, but not as much as Bombur. He was described as "a decent fellow, despite his grumbling". Dori was the strongest of the company of Dwarves. Before the Quest of Erebor, Dori lived in Thorin Oakenshield's home in the northern Blue Mountains (Ered Luin) along with his two brothers. They became part of Thorin's Company and travelled to the Lonely Mountain, to reclaim the Dwarven treasure.
Dori fought in the Battle of the Five Armies and survived, and later returned to the Lonely Mountain where he established himself and became rich. His date of death is unknown, but is thought to be in the beginning of the Fourth Age.
