Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was a theme released as part of the Star Wars theme in 1999 to coincide with the release of The Phantom Menace in theaters. Being the first episode in the saga, numerous scenes and starships have been recreated into LEGO based on the movie. From the Republic Cruiser's landing to the end of the battle of Naboo, this subtheme features more starships than scenes. This movie is home to the MTT, a set that includes over 20 battle droids.

Only three mini sets have been released so far for Episode I. More are unlikely to be released, though more information is to be determined.

As with the mini sets, only three Technic sets have been released. These are based on droids only, from harmless pit droids to deadly Destroyer droids.

Only two UCS sets have been released so far. 10018 Darth Maul Bust is one of the most interesting, and the oldest in the subtheme history. The other is a Naboo Starfighter, only with many chrome pieces and a display stand.
