Professor Ignatius Voltage,[1] more commonly called Professor Voltage, is an inventor who appeared in 5706 LEGOLAND video game.

Background[]

Professor Voltage is the grandfather of Veronica Voltage, a champion racer who appears in LEGO Racers.[2]

The plot of 5706 LEGOLAND begins with Professor Ignatius Voltage demonstrating his newly-invented Time Machine. But, since his inventions rarely work as intended, he accidentally destroys the LEGOLAND Park while doing so. Voltage spends the rest of the game traveling through time and using his Duplicator Ray to replace the broken attractions.

Voltage also appeared in several LEGO Adventures! Magazine comics. In one comic, he unveiled his latest invention, an invisibility ray, only to have it briefly stolen by the Brickster. He was also briefly mentioned in the LEGO Island Comic Adventures "The Stolen Painting", where Pepper Roni and Luna Rom used his boat to reach Knights' Kingdom Island.

LEGO Description[]

You may not have realized, but every LEGOLAND Park has its own resident scientist whose job it is to invent fantastic Attractions and cool Rides - where did you think we got all that amazing stuff from!

The Professor has a mysterious past but his inventions, when they work, speak for themselves. The Professor has even developed a ‘Ride Chamber’ which uses special blueprints to construct your Attractions.

The Professor has developed all kinds of weird stuff, including the cool Destructa Bricks in LEGO Creator! One thing to watch out for though is that he is easily distracted by his own curiosity and that can lead to all kinds of trouble...

Behind the Scenes[]

In concept art for LEGOLAND, Professor Voltage was named Sparks.

Professor Voltage appeared in beta versions of LEGO Racers 2, where he acted as a guide to the player. This role was given to Sparky in the final game. Despite this, Voltage's model, textures, and icon are still present in the game's assets, and through file modification or memory editing it is possible for the player to play as him. His appearance in LEGO Racers 2 was quite different from his others, with gray hair, altered face and shirt detail, and brown pants.
