MoS proposals/CG Images
The following section is preserved as an archive. Please do not modify it. The result was add

(I'm sure this was voted through before, but I can't find anything about it, maybe we were just talking about it on talk pages. Anyway...)

I'm proposing we add the following line to the minifigure section of the MoS:
The infobox image of a minifigure must be a photograph of the physical figure. An image of a computer-generated representation of the minifigure may be used only when no photographs exist.

  2. In minifig galleries too, as it sometimes shows the minifigure with an accessory which isn't included --Berrybrick (Talk) | (Con.) 01:32, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

  4. I think this rule and plain common sense should appily. For example like Jag said, if the only physical minifigure image is small and of poor quality then a CG image should be acceptable for the infobox.

  1. As SKP said, as long as we use common sense. Jag 18:42, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Comments

  • Gets rid of annoying CG photos in the infobox. People want to see the actual minifigures, not some computer-based imagery. NightblazeSaber 01:30, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • @Berrybrick: It does say on {{MinifigureGallery}}: "The minifigure's image should be that of its exact variant- if there is no image available of this variant, leave the field blank or upload an image". But I guess it couldn't hurt to add that to the MoS too. NightblazeSaber 01:41, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
    • But what if the only photograph is a lot smaller and is much worse quality? Jag 07:17, October 17, 2011 (UTC)
      • Sure, obviously if there's a huge quality concern about an image, CG can be used- but I can't really think of a case where a CG image comes out before an ok-quality picture of the minifigure. NightblazeSaber 03:15, October 30, 2011 (UTC)
