Harry Potter is a Lego Theme based on the story of the Harry Potter Movies. In 2001, it was decided that the Harry potter books would be made into a movie series. Lego partnered up with the Harry Potter license and produced sets to be released alongside the movies. Sets were made for the first five movies. Many sets were released for the first movie, but gradually less and less Harry potter sets were released each year. One set accompanied the fifth movie and no sets came out with the sixth. It was though by the Lego community that Lego Harry Potter sets were finished with. But this Thesis was proved incorrect when a trailer for a video game known as LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 that will come out in 2010. It is still unknown if any more sets will be released for the Theme.

Many plot-relevant locations from the Harry Potter novels and films were turned into LEGO sets. Hogwarts, the wizard school Harry Potter goes to, has been the main source for sets in the Harry Potter theme. At least 20 individual sets have been dedicated to recreating the school's classroom's, rooms, and the castle itself.

Diagon Alley comprises two sets, 4723 Diagon Alley Shops and 4719 Quality Quidditch Supplies. Other locations of the magic world are the Knockturn Alley, Grigotts Bank and the Shrieking Shack. The only place visible to Muggles is the house of the Dursley family.

Another notable story location is the Hogwarts Express, represented by two sets (4708 Hogwarts Express and 4758 Hogwarts Express). The Durmstrang ship appears in its own set as well although it plays only a minor role as actual location in the movie. Just as the Knight Bus.
