LEGOLAND is a chain of interactive LEGO theme parks and indoor entertainment centers known as LEGOLAND Discovery Centers. The parks feature many interactive attractions, designed mainly for children ages 12 and below, as well as various life-sized LEGO models and sculptures displayed throughout the park, and many rides and roller-coasters. The heart of each LEGOLAND park is Miniland, a section featuring miniature LEGO models of famous cities people and places.
There are currently five Theme Parks and five "Discovery Centers" located throughout Europe and the USA, with future locations planned for Asia. They are operated by the Merlin Entertainments Group.

Future Plans
Edit
There are two further theme parks currently planned - LEGOLAND Dubai was scheduled for 2011 but pushed back until 2012[1], although it wasn't even opened in 2012. A LEGOLAND is also planned to open in Chuncheon, South Korea in 2015.[2] There are also three new discovery centers planned. One of them is scheduled to open in Toronto, Canada in 2013, one in Westchester, USA in 2013, and one in New Jersey, USA in 2014.
In 2005, due to financing difficulties, a 70% stake in the chain was sold by the LEGO Group to the Blackstone Group, under Merlin Entertainments Group. LEGOLAND is one of the biggest theme parks in Europe and America.
