LEGO Coast Guard
From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki.
The Coast Guard was not an official theme in its own right but one of the recurring organizations that feature in Lego Town and several other town-related themes and subthemes. Coast Guard vessels and personnel were released in several specific coast guard themed sets as well as in sets with a different focus. What the different incarnations of the Coast Guard had in common was the logo. It featured a life ring with white and red segments that would be either based on a blue coat of arms or a triangle and later a diamond shape.

[edit] History
The first Lego set to feature a coast guard was 575 U.S. Coast Guard Station. It comprised a tower, a pier, a helicopter and two odd watercraft. However, this set involved the US Coast Guard and included respective stickers. The first set that sported the typical red and white life ring logo was 6387 Coastal Rescue Base which featured two cars, a helicopter and a small boat. The minifigs were wearing red overalls and caps. In 1991 was the first time the Coast Guard was equipped with a ship, the 6353 Coastal Cutter. The ship was colored in white and blue, which were already the established base colors for the 1989 set and sported the number "C12" on either sides of its bow. The minifigs wore black and had torso pieces that were common for policemen of that era but they were covered with life vests anyway. In 1992 the coast guard logo made an appearance next to a lifeguard in a Paradisa set. One year later the Coast Guard was given a rather huge helicopter. The 6342 Beach Rescue Chopper included minifigs in the same red colors as in the 1989 set.
In 1995 a new coast guard building was released. 6338 Hurricane Harbor used the same color scheme as the previous building, albeit the colors were inverted. The walls were now white and the window frames blue. The set contained a car and a white boat. It also featured specialized coast guard minifigs that had grey torso pieces and blue caps that were both emblazoned with the established coast guard logo. One year later the coast guard got a new ship. The 4022 C26 Sea Cutter was released as part of the Boats line. It had a similar color scheme as the Coastal Cutter from 1991 and included minifigs with the same design that was introduced in the Hurricane Harbor set. In the same year a Coast Guard minifig appeared next to a lifeguard tower that sported the life ring logo in the 6334 Wave Jump Racers set.
With the release of the new Res-Q theme in 1998 which covered all the rescue tasks one could possibly imagine the classic Coast Guard seemed to be discontinued. But the next release came just one year later and brought some changes. The set 6435 Coast Guard HQ included minifigs with a new uniform that had blue torso pieces and the Coast Guard logo swapped the blue coat of arms with a triangle. The building reintroduced the color scheme of the Coastal Rescue Base from 1989 but the set itself was heavily juniorized. The included ship was labeled with the number "C501". This was the last Coast Guard set that featured the classic blue and white colors for buildings and ships.
In 2003 some sets of the new World City theme sported the familiar life ring logo. This time enclosed in a diamond shape. The buildings and vessels also featured a new color scheme. Instead of blue and white they were now yellow and black as in the Res-Q line. The headquarter was labeled Coast Watch.
The next Coast Guard releases came in 2008. With eight sets in total a real flood of new Coast Guard vessels was presented. The new Coast Guard reprised the diamond shaped logo from 2003 and this time the color orange was prominently featured on both vessels and buildings. The new uniform consisted of yellow torso pieces sporting the Coast Guard logo and blue arms and legs as well as blue helmets or caps.
