So, to start with, I will explain the lack of pictures. I misplaced my camera back in April, and I haven't seen it since.
Now, to get to the review.
I bought this set in late March with what remained of my birthday money. 98 pieces, including 4 exclusive minifigures, seemed like a good deal at the time, even if it did cost $16.99 from TRU. I had already disassembled the set by mid-April, due to the fact that I needed the parts.
The Main Model(Republic Artillery Cannon)
I felt like the main model of the set was designed in a hurry. For example, in a few cases, two 1x2 plates were used when just one 2x2 would have worked. But then again, they were the new Dark Red color, so I'll not count that. It seems a bit flimsy, which counts against it in the long run. The flick-fire missile didn't work(the best shot I got from it went about three feet, and that was launched from on top of a 4' bookshelf,) and it made the cannon look stupid. Now I'll move on.
The Clone minifigures were the main reason that I bought this set, but unfortunately, they were stolen during a house showing(my family moved recently) in May. The ARF Trooper was exactly the same as the one from 7913 except with different printing and arms. I was a bit disappointed that his helmet printing was about 5 degrees off-center, which made him look a bit stupid. And what's worse, he wasn't the only misprint! One of the Commando Droids had his head printing done so badly that the base of one of his eyes was level with the center of his other eye! The ARC Trooper was quite nice, he had a new helmet mold and (finally) a cloth pauldron and kama. The commando droids were great, but unfortunately, the heads were made of the el-cheapo Chinese plastic used for the Collectable Minifigures.
I think that this set would be good for army builders, but not for someone who wants to use it as a display. It has some good pieces, but I don't think that makes up for the flimsy design.
Overall: 3 out of 5
Price: 3.5 out of 5
Minifigures: 4.5 out of 5
Difficulty: 1 out of 5
Play Experience: 2 out of 5
Model Design: 3 out of 5
- Flimsy design
- Off-center minifigure printing
- Flick-fire missiles(why does Lego stick those on everything?)
No star charts, those won't work for me. I hope you didn't feel like reading this review was a waste of time.
