"I need someone to show me my place in all of this."
―Rey

Rey is a Star Wars minifigure released in September 2015. She is the main protagonist of the sequel trilogy.

Description[]

Rey's first variant represents the scavenger attire she wears in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. She is dressed in tan, ragged clothes, and occasionally wears a mask consisting of a scarf and goggles. She has freckles and brown eyebrows. Her hair is brown and worn in a three-bun hairstyle. She commonly wields her quarterstaff in this variant.

Her second main variant represents the robes she wore while training under Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To during Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Her outfit consists of medium-grey robes with tan sleeves, and her hair has been let down in a Qui-Gon Jinn-esque style. She also has a variant based on her Resistance attire, with a white top under a dark tan jacket, dark gray pants and light-gray arms. Starting with this variant, she commonly wields a blue lightsaber.

Rey's final variant represents her Jedi robes from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. These robes are entirely white, with a dark brown belt and no sleeves. Exclusively in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, this version of Rey wields a yellow lightsaber.

Background[]

The Force Awakens[]

Rey was a scavenger from the planet Jakku who was abandoned by her parents at an early age, becoming a scavenger for Unkar Plutt, all the while waiting for her parents to return. While searching for parts in a crashed Imperial-class Star Destroyer, she found and befriended the Resistance droid BB-8. Soon after this, she encountered former stormtrooper Finn, who pretended to be a member of the Resistance in order to hide his past with the First Order. Finn told Rey that they need to deliver BB-8 to the Resistance base on D'Qar, as the droid was carrying the last fragment of a map leading to Luke Skywalker. Stealing the Millennium Falcon from Plutt's shipyard, the three crossed paths with the ship's former owners, Han Solo and Chewbacca. After helping them to escape a pair of gangs seeking Han's head, they landed on Takodana to seek help in transporting BB-8.

When Rey met Maz Kanata in her cantina, she was called into a basement by the Force, where she found and touched Luke Skywalker's old lightsaber, causing her to have a vision of her past. Terrified, Rey refused Maz's offer to keep the lightsaber and fled, leaving Maz to give the lightsaber to Finn for safekeeping. Mere minutes later, Takodana came under attack by the First Order. Before she could leave the planet, Rey was confronted by Kylo Ren, who captured her under the belief that he could extract the map to Luke from her mind with the Force.

After her capture, Rey was taken to Starkiller Base, where she is interrogated by Ren. After he fails to get any information from her, he leaves her with a stormtrooper guard, FN-1824, as he goes to oversee Starkiller Base's next attack. However, Rey finally learns how to channel the Force, mind-tricking FN-1824 and escaping her restraints. She sneaked around the base for a time before running into Finn, Han and Chewbacca, who had come to save her and lower the base's protective shields. After helping them plant explosives around the base's thermal oscillator, she witnessed the confrontation between Han and Ren, leading to Han's death. Escaping with Finn and Chewbacca, the three were pursued by Kylo into Starkiller's forest. While Chewbacca ran to get the Falcon, Rey was knocked out by Ren, only to regain consciousness just after Ren cut Finn down after a brief lightsaber duel between them. Force-pulling the lightsaber to herself before Ren could, Rey managed to overwhelm Ren in a duel, knocking his lightsaber away and narrowly escaping the base with Chewbacca and Finn before it's destruction.

The Last Jedi[]

Shortly after returning to the Resistance base on D'Qar, she went with Chewbacca to find Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To after the map to his location was put together by BB-8 and R2-D2. She found him in the ruins of the First Jedi Temple, offering him his lightsaber. After Luke refuses to take the lightsaber back, Rey convinced him to train her in the ways of the Force. Despite his initial reluctance to do so, Luke finds a connection forming between him and Rey, encouraging him to stand and fight once again. During this time, Rey begins communicating with Kylo Ren through the Force, which convinces her that Ren can be redeemed. Departing from Ahch-To, she infiltrates the Mega-class Star Dreadnought Supremacy, only to be captured and brought before Supreme Leader Snoke. Ren is ordered to kill her by Snoke, but he refuses, killing Snoke instead and helping Rey defeat his Praetorian Guards. Rey is offered by Ren to rule the galaxy by his side, but she refuses the offer and escapes. During the Resistance's apparent final stand against the First Order on Crait, Rey uses her control of the Force to clear their escape route. Before she leaves, Kylo tells Rey that her parents were nobodies, and that they sold her to Plutt for profit. Though she briefly contemplates killing Ren, Rey decides against doing so and returns to the Resistance. In the aftermath of the fight, she and Leia Organa Solo sense Luke's death through the Force as they and the remainder of the Resistance escape in the Falcon.

The Rise of Skywalker[]

After arriving on the Resistance's Ajan Kloss base, Rey continues her Jedi training under Leia's tutelage. Rather abruptly, the Resistance learns that Emperor Palpatine, the public identity of Darth Sidious, has been manipulating their war with the First Order from the Sith homeworld of Exegol, and has unleashed the Sith Eternal's fleet of Xyston-class Star Destroyers, the Final Order, to reclaim the galaxy and establish a new Sith Empire. Using Luke's notes, Rey learns that a Sith wayfinder can lead them directly to Exegol, giving them a chance to destroy the Sith fleet at its source. Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and BB-8 leave for Pasaana, where a clue to the wayfinder's location is hidden. Rey locates the clue—a dagger with Sith inscriptions—with the help of Lando Calrissian. Meanwhile, she continues communicating with Ren; through this correspondence, he learns where she is and comes for her. Rey confronts Ren, inadvertently allowing Chewbacca to be taken aboard a First Order transport. Attempting to save Chewbacca, Rey accidentally destroys the transport with Force lightning, seemingly killing him. Rey is stricken with guilt and reveals to Finn that she has been having visions of herself and Ren sitting on the Sith throne together.

Rey and the others travel to Kijimi, where programmer Babu Frik extracts the location of the wayfinder: Kef Bir, an ocean moon of Endor, from C-3PO's memory files. As Ren and the First Order follow Rey to Kijimi, Rey senses Chewbacca is alive and the group mounts a rescue mission. Rey retrieves the dagger aboard Ren's Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Steadfast and has visions of her parents being killed with it. Right after this, Ren informs her that she is the Emperor's granddaughter. Sidious had fathered a son who renounced him, hiding with his wife and Rey on Jakku, assuming lives as "nobodies" to protect her. The Emperor eventually found Rey's parents and had them killed, but never found Rey. Ren also reveals that as the grandchildren of Sith Lords, their connection is actually a dyad in the Force. Ren urges her to join him so they can overthrow Sidious and take the throne of the Sith together, but Rey refuses and escapes aboard the Millennium Falcon with her friends.

Together, they travel to Kef Bir where Rey retrieves the wayfinder on the remains of the second Death Star; upon touching the artifact, she has a vision of herself as a Sith. Having tracked them, Ren destroys the wayfinder and duels Rey. Leia, in her last moments, calls to Ren through the Force, distracting him long enough for Rey to impale him. Sensing Leia's death, Rey regrets taking the opportunity to impale Ren, subsequently healing him. Frightened by her Sith heritage, Rey exiles herself to Ahch-To. While there, she is given Leia's lightsaber by Luke's Force spirit, who encourages her to stand up and fight Sidious. Using Luke's old X-wing and the wayfinder, she departs for Exegol. Rey transmits her coordinates to the Resistance, allowing them to launch an offensive against the Sith Eternal forces.

Rey confronts Sidious, who demands she kill him in anger for his spirit to pass into her, making her "Empress Palpatine". However, Ren, having reclaimed his identity as Ben Solo, arrives and joins Rey. The Sith Lord absorbs their life energy to restore his full power and incapacitates Ben. He then attacks the Resistance fleet with Force lightning. Weakened, Rey hears the voices of past Jedi, who restore her strength. Sidious attacks her with lightning, but Rey deflects it using Luke and Leia's lightsabers, killing him and herself. Ben sacrifices himself using the remaining of his energy to revive her using the Force; Rey kisses Ben before he vanishes into the Force. Rey then returns to the Resistance base and reunites with her friends, celebrating their victory against Sidious and the Sith Eternal. Some time later, Rey visits Luke's abandoned childhood home on Tatooine and buries the Skywalker lightsabers, having built her own yellow-bladed saber. A passerby asks Rey her name; after seeing the Force spirits of Luke and Leia, she responds, "Rey Skywalker".
