"Look, I'll hang around and give you a hand. Remember, I can do anything!"
―Superman to Batman in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

Superman, also known as Clark Kent, is a minifigure from the Super Heroes theme. He also appears as a character in The LEGO Movie as a Master Builder, and is voiced by Channing Tatum. In 2015 he will have the same face as his Man of Steel variant but in his Comic Suit.

Description

He has a red cape and a blue torso which has muscular printing, along with his signature red S logo against yellow, and a belt. He has backprinting depicting the back of the belt and the suit's cut on his back. His legs are blue with red hips.

This variant has the same hair as the comics version. He has a double sided face with cheek bones, one with an angry expression and red eyes (replacing the black) to represent shooting lasers out of his eyes and the other with normal eyes and a serious expression. He has a red cape. His torso, arms, hips, and legs are earth blue while his hands are flesh. His torso is printed with his neckline, the start of his cape, his logo which is a large dark red Kryptonian "S" and some yellow and a different design, the suit's cut on his body, a gold oval and silver embroidery which continues onto the legs. He has back printing depicting the back of the suit, featuring the silver and gold embroidery and the muscles cut on his back.

Black Suit

This version has the same hair, face and printing as the Man of Steel variant but in black and silver.

In the Video Games

Superman appears in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. In earlier images and clips, he appeared very similar to his appearance in 6862, but he didn't have cheek bones, smiles, and has his yellow S which appears in the comics, but was absent from the set and promotion, on the back of his cape. However, he has his official face in the game.

Superman is capable of using many of his super powers in-game, such as flight and super-strength. He can also use his super-breath to blow enemies away, freeze-breath to freeze enemies and water, his heat vision to defeat enemies and heat golden objects, and X-ray vision to find hidden objects behind special walls.

He is also available as Clark Kent who has all the same powers except flight (Although Clark can fly on the iOS version).

He reappears in The LEGO Movie Videogame with his comic variant. Sadly, he can not use all his powers like in "LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes". For one, the game has neglected the handles used for super strength and the walls used for x-ray vision. He does however keep his flight and heat vision and also gains the ability to Master Build.

Background

Comics

Born on the planet Krypton to scientist Jor-El and his wife Lara-El, Kal-El was sent to the planet Earth, Jor-El's only attempt to save his son during Krypton's destruction. Adopted by Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent, and renamed Clark Kent, he grew up in the town of Smallville, and would later learn of his Kryptonian powers and ancestry and became Superman, the Man of Steel. Superman's archenemy is Lex Luthor, who is jealous of Superman and wants to destroy him and look like a hero for doing it. Other enemies of Superman are Bizarro, Brainiac, and General Zod. The Man of Steel also partners with Supergirl, his cousin; Superboy, his clone; and Lois Lane, a reporter Superman is romantically interested with. Superman also works with Batman and Wonder Woman occasionally. He and Batman mistrust each other and don't always get along very well, but Superman has shown attraction to Wonder Woman.

He is a member of the Justice League, which also consists of Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and sometimes Nightwing, Batgirl, Huntress, Hawkman, and Shazam.

Man of Steel

Kal-El was Jor-El's son and the first naturally born Kryptonian in centuries. Jor-El imprinted the Codex containing the Kryptonian genes and his consciousness on his son and sent him to Earth to save the Kryptonian race after Krypton's destruction. On Earth, he was adopted by the Kent family and named Clark Kent. He learned to harness his powers, and his father revealed his true alien heritage, who told him not to use his powers publicly fearing the world would reject him, even to save him during a tornado, which killed him.

Clark then worked various job under false names, and eventually found a ancient Kryptonian ship, and learned about his true identity from an A.I. of Jor-El. He saved Lois Lane, who had followed him and activated security system. Lois later located him in Smallville, Kansas, and he told Lois his story.

General Zod appeared and issued a threat, Kal-El must surrender himself within twenty-four hours, or Earth will suffer. Kal-El willing turned himself over to Colonel Hardy, spoke with Lois, and was brought to Zod by Faora. Zod revealed that he planned to turn Earth into a new Krypton, eradicating the human race, and using the codex to repopulate the Kryptonian race. Clark and Lois escaped the ship, and he fought with Faora and managed to defeat her, gaining Earth's trust, while Zod activated his plan.

Superman destroyed the world engine over the Indian Ocean, while the military destroyed the one over Metropolis, removing Zod's army. The two engage in a fight in the ruins of Metropolis, with the Genesis Chamber being destroyed in the fight, thwarting Zod's planes. Enraged, Zod tried to kill innocent civilians, which forced Superman to kill Zod.

After the battle, Clark became a reporter at The Daily Planet.

In the Video Games

In LEGO Batman

While he didn't actually appear in LEGO Batman: The Videogame, Superman was mentioned near the end of the game. He and Batman had already met before the events of the video game, and Superman had entrusted Batman with a kryptonite ring which he could use to stop Superman if necessary.

In LEGO Batman 2

Superman first appears after Batman and Robin defeat The Joker outside of the Gotham Funland. He apologizes to Batman for missing Bruce Wayne's Man of the Year award ceremony, and criticizes him for making a mess at the theatre. Though Batman clearly does not like Superman, Robin does.

He is next seen as one of the superheroes Martian Manhunter is monitoring when he checks on Bruce Wayne.

He later rescues Batman and Robin from ACE Chemicals, and later still he assists them in escaping the Batcave after The Joker and Lex Luthor destroy much of it. He is disappointed that Batman didn't tell him Luthor was involved, and accompanied him to the LexCorp aircraft after the Kryptonite while Robin stayed to repair the vehicles.

They infiltrate the aircraft, but when they reach the control deck, Batman is dropped through a trapdoor. Superman rescues him, and carries Batman to LexCorp in Metropolis.

From LexCorp, a large Joker-esque robot emerges and heads back to Gotham. Batman in a LexCorp aircraft and Superman fire at it, and then land on it. Lex emerges with Kryptonite and weakens Superman who falls. Batman saves him by gliding back to Gotham. Though most of his powers return, he is unable to fly and hunches over.

The robot hits at them, and they fall through the ground. It continues to make holes in the ground above the metro, but Superman uses his heat vision to destroy the left hand completely.

At the City Hall, Lex begins to give a speech and infects the crowd with a mind-altering gas so that they will vote for him. Superman destroys the gas emitting flower from the robot. Superman gives himself up to try and stop it enough that Batman can defeat it. Batman is chased by it with Robin in a multi-coloured Batmobile, and they create a Kryptonite trail to alert the Justice League.

When the robot attacks Wayne Tower, Superman quickly lunges under it to keep it from falling, and is helped by Wonder Woman to keep it up. They hold it until Green Lantern and The Flash repair the base. When he is relieved, Superman faints until after Joker and Luthor are defeated.

Aside from Luthor, Superman rogues Brainiac, General Zod, and Bizarro appear in the game, as well as Supergirl and Lois Lane, but none have roles in the story except Brainiac, who has a cameo at the end. His pet, Krypto the Superdog, is also mentioned during Vicki Vale's news reports. He, Ace the Bathound, and Stretch-O-Mutt are nominees for the "Dog of the Year" award.

The LEGO Movie

"I super hate you."
―Superman to Green Lantern

Superman is a Master Builder in The LEGO Movie. He finds Green Lantern really annoying and irritating, though he still goes to the Master Builder meetings with him. Superman has cameos inside Cloud Cuckoo Land and in the Think Tank, where he is seen with Green Lantern, Green Ninja, and an NBA player. At one point in the movie he got stuck in "Pink squishy stuff" (chewed up gum) and Green Lantern tried to get him out but Green Lantern got stuck, too. Superman is taken to the Octan Tower and is imprisoned in the Think Tank beside Green Lantern, much to his chagrin. He is later freed by Emmet and joins in the fight against Lord Business and his Micro Managers.
