Thomas & Friends is a DUPLO theme of the Thomas the Tank Engine franchise, based upon The Railway Series books created by Rev. W. Awdry. The theme began in 2005 in the United States and 2007 in the United Kingdom, and ran until 2010, when the theme was canceled because of HIT Entertainment signing a deal to MEGA BLOKS, LEGO's rival, to make construction sets based off of Thomas from them.^[1]
