Hello! I'm Jack, and I'd like to talk to you about making some template modifications on your community. This community has a lot of traffic, and I'd like to introduce some Portable Infoboxes. They provide some simplicity and consistency for your users, are easy to maintain, and have benefits on all platforms (including mobile). I've made some drafts here Special:Insights/nonportableinfoboxes, but here's a comparison of what you use currently to the look of what I'd like to introduce.
As you can see, there's not much difference, but I may be able to get closer to the original look if you point out specific aspects.
Can we work together to do all of them? If you have any questions, or this is the wrong venue for this kind of a discussion, please let me know. Thanks!
We appreciate your offer, but we are happy with our current infoboxes and are already making vital improvements.
We'd really like to be able to switch you over to using Portable Infoboxes, in the long term. About 55% of your community's viewers and pageviews are mobile traffic, and we want to provide the best possible experience for them. I'd like to think there's room for more improvement if we work together, and build something that's futureproof. FANDOM considers Portable Infoboxes to be the standard, and migrating to them should only make editing your templates simpler and easier. We've been sitting on being more insistent about switching to them, and for Brickipedia it is more pressing to migrate sooner rather than later, given your traffic patterns.
What do you mean by 'sooner rather than later'? We have politely declined the offer by Jackninja and will not be changing our minds. I already have a user working on making them more portable. Also, I would like to request to see your exact statistics for the number mobile contributors on this Wiki, as I don't know of a single person who edits here through a mobile phone.
Mobile editing and mobile viewing are very different statistics. But the majority of your readers / viewers are indeed from mobile devices. And, with respect, while you may have a user working to make them more portable, we'd like to offer our expertise to accelerate the timetable. With a little effort, conversion can be complete by the end of January, if not a lot sooner.
