LEGO posted on the message boards (read: LEGO posted on the message boards) earlier today an important announcement regarding Ninjago. As many of you know, a LEGO designer revealed earlier in the year that Ninjago would not continue past 2013 and that the final wave of sets is forthcoming and already on shelves in some parts of the world.

Ninjago has been a popular LEGO theme over its run. Though it has received criticisms for its "Stupid story" and "lackluster sets" the theme was generally well received where it mattered, boys aged six to twelve as well as among some TFOLs and AFOLs, but I'm sure LEGO just sees that as a tidy little bonus.

Some fans have described Ninjago as the long-lasting theme BIONICLE's spiritual successor for it's story drive and multimedia presentation. Fittingly enough, Ninjago has gotten a BIONICLE good-bye, more or less, though the end of the story has not been rushed as much as BIONICLE, many fans are still sorry to see it go and often despise what is said to be its replacement, Legends of Chima.

That is not true.

Chima may be taking the place of Ninjago in the multimedia sense of things and reducing it to a smaller scale theme, but it will not end. To quote LEGO:

"Calling all Ninjago fans! :star:

Gather round! Beckon all of your friends to gather round, too! We have important and exciting news! Not just any news. Not news about the weather or cats stuck up trees or the price of milk! No, this is news about Ninjago! :secret:

But, what news? What news could be so important? Isn’t Ninjago being discontinued in 2013?!”, we hear you exclaim! Ah yes, young ninja, we sense you are eager to learn more and so shall the news be revealed… :light_bulb:

Because our message boards fans are so awesome and because we know you love Ninjago more than anyone else in the entire world, nay universe, we are giving you guys this information first and exclusively! Check the internet; see if anyone else is mentioning this! They won’t be right now because you’re hearing this from us first and you’re the first to know!

Jammers on: Ninjago fans only!

Jammers Ninjago will continue into 2014!

Jammers off: Yayyy!!!! "

Now, don't get your hopes up too high. I'm not saying if you are a fan of Ninjago or the sets you should not be happy, but if you were drawn into the commercialism mutltimedia-ness of it all, the TV show and spinners mostly, there is no confirmation that they will continue in 2013, much less in 2014 and a downsize of the theme to make room for Chima does seem to be in effect already.
